Disclaimer : I am an IT consultant myself , so please do not show this to manager :)
I received this as a forward and the image speaks a lot.It bought back the memories of my tormenting training period which still happens to be the best time of my corporate time till now.No wonder, they call training to be the 'HoneyMoon Period' :)
Ever since I started working as an ERP consultant life changed gears. The real time environment is the best teacher of them all and the learning that one receives here is unbeatable. As luck would have had it, being in ERP domain exposed me to the Business Process knowledge and a guy who never understood Finance/Accounting beyond red/green/blue pens (yes, my commerce friends used to carry these three colors all the time) , is now managing and streamlining finances for billion dollar companies.ERP experience has helped me see the bigger picture which goes beyond the run-of-a-mill coding profile.
I am no expert and not an IT industry fan boy ,but then it is getting me my bread and butter.Ok, an occasional glass of wine too:)
For a better experience in what ever time you stick around in an IT profile in a technical profile, don't restrict yourself with the HOW of the client requirement.Yes, that is going to be our primary job but then a little extra never hurt anyone, did it?
Ask the Why by putting yourself in the customer's shoes and analyze the need for a requirement. It is this reasoning that imparts a learning that goes beyond any training in business. If you can understand why a customer wants a certain solution, then the real experience is gained.
I will appreciate your thoughts on my rants which should not have happened at the first place.I was only going to put up a nice humourous web comic and ended up writing so much.Darn , writing gets to me :)
So without further ado, here is the IT professional life in picturesImage Credit :: ( Via My Posterous Blog)
PS:: Did i tell ya that i am sucker for conversations!! I love discussions like nothing else. So, please lend your 2 cents of wisdom on the thoughts shared here.

Here are my 2 cents of wisdom or whatever you call it:
The image totally reflects the life of two people who run a website called www.totalgadha.com :D
Does that make you feel better?
lol . Only if the compensations were same too :-) But i will get there!!
BTW , I was hoping that fellow gadha's will read the boring IT gyan rant and we would have some discussions on that too!!
Thanks for dropping by!! You have got yourself a guy hooked to TG . Just hope my own blogs don't suffer because of this otherwise I am going to lose a lot of money :-)
Compensations will also come :) I like your writing style. It's good fun to read blogs you know... and a well written post really feels good.
Glad you found the writing style likeable . I have been into semi-pro blogging for sometime so that helps.
Never really started a personal blog and i think i have found myself a home to share/discuss my thoughts!!
I just hope the revenue's come in fast and i become the third 6 figure blogger from TG :)
Let me know if anything specific needs to be done to get the adsense going, though the ad format is not going well in the sidebar.I think vertical skyscrapers will do better without distorting the theme
I am trying to see the ads but they are not getting displayed on my comp. Let me try vertical skyscrapers and then you let me know. :)
I am not sure if you have activated the ads because i cant see them on my blog either.I saw some other blogs in the network and made the comment.
Once you activate them for my blog, then probably i would be able to see and revert back :)
Yeah!! I really like the image of IT professional :D hehe ...
@avinash Thanks!! Glad you liked it :-)
Having worked my ass off for two years in 11th and 12th to get into a good engineering college with comp sci as my b tech, i have come to the conclusion that i am not really cut out for all that coding and stuff :) . In fact I have only taken finance courses as my optionals in my college :) . I hope by goin for MBA, am venturing into something which I actually like :D .
@rachit I appreciate your decision but then if u r a com sc grad , it doesn mean that u only need to code.If i may , all the automatic trade algorithms written for the capital markets involve a lot of system design that u study in Comp sc.
But, i appreciate that you want to do something that you like.
I am sure you will do well to get into a good B-school.Finance happens to be one of my favourite subjects too besides Web 2.0 . I hope you will find my blog on Indian Stock Markets useful "Getting Money Wise" , The link is the in the right under Blogroll. Will be great to have your thoughts on finance there too :-)
