Google is showering a lot of “Tata Docomo” Love On My Blog

I wanted to refrain from writing this but it is getting insane off late. I had already written about the Search Engine love that my blog has been getting.I am no SEO expert and i could never write articles stuffing keywords which would bring traffic to my article. This is the trend and there are over thousands of keyword tools that suggest search engine keywords to make the articles tuned with SEO.

However, search engines sometime seem to have a mind of their own.If you remember the post i had done earlier on Google Loves My Blog on TG Town , it was evident that my post on Tata Docomo got a lot of traction from the search engines. However, I had not written anything spectacular for the article to become search engine friendly.

With Statpress gone due to technical reasons, we now have FireStats installed on our blogs. It may not be as detailed as Statpress but it has a rather neat interface and does its job quite well.It has been hardly 3 days i activated Firestats on the blog and what did i notice.

Tata Docomo is still doing rather well for my blog on search engines.Infact, now even telecommunication related queries are being re-directed to my blog .I sure do not understand it completely but then I am not complaining :-)

I took notice of the search engine traffic that i have been getting and look what i found.

search_tata_docomo

Interesting to note that these are the stats from last 3 odd days after i activated FireStats.I sure do not why or how my article is placed so high up for anything related to Tata Docomo .The Totalgadha domain definetely helps the cause, but then after that it is beyond me.

Notice the hits for the keyword "Tata Docomo" .Now, that is one word that should be safely occupied by the offical Tata Docomo site, ain't it.Ok, let me reveal the secret.the "tata docomo" hits are via Google Images when someone searches for a Tata Docomo logo on Google Images like this .My image link is located at the 5th position :)

So, basically to say that you should write content and optimize it for Search Engines is still a partially solved mystery for me.Partially solved ?? Yes, that's because i am implementing the optimization based on the search engine results :-)

Being the Sharing and Caring guy i am , here are my 2 cents on building up some search engine traffic or rather making use of metrics to optimize better.

  • Always give a relevant name to the images you include in your blog posts. The image traffic may not give you a respectable bounce rate, but it does help someone discover your blog. All it takes is giving the image a relevant name

  • Watch your stats, understand them act upon them.If you notice search engines sending traffic to your blog for some keywords, analyse them and see if you can capitalize on them. How?

    • Do a relevant follow up post using a few keywords shown in your Stats area.Make sure you don't over do it but if you have more content with different iterations of the same keyword, you might just get yourself better ranking and more traffic from Search Engines.

    • Find the specific post that is driving the most traffic from search engines and link some other relevant post from your blog in that article. Since, one page is already ranked high by Search Engines, it is likely that the new linked page will also get indexed by Search engines. ( I interlink my posts aggressively as long as they are relevant)

Search Engine Optimization might be the holy grail for attracting traffic but then i find it either too complex or a little over rated.Content as they will remain the king.Instead of spending hours looking for plugins and other SEO tools , the same time spent in writing more content will do more good. But, understanding and analyzing your site's traffic behaviour is a good starting point.Understand visitor behaviour and with time, you should be in a position to execute strategies to make your site more friendly to the visitor.
Have you been watching your stats? Any interesting insights that you came across, i would love to know :-)

Do let me know if you found the article useful :-) (In other words, COMMENT!!!)

  1. Yeah, What I like about the FireStat, apart from the Search terms, is it shows the % of International traffic too, which currently accounts to 50% approx.

By the way, Tata Docomo has become your ultimate legacy and you are very well taking care of it :P

If there is anything left to cover, I am sure you can find it, then how about a follow up on TD? ;)

  2. Hi,thanks for dropping by!! Frankly i dont care where the traffic is coming from too much in terms of geography. From a reading perspective my content at most times is for an Indian Audience. The international one may not find it that relevant and might click on ads to navigate elsewhere:-)

Tata Docomo has become the legacy word of sorts but then i never thought or ensured that it would. Now that it has, i am doing my bit :-)

Would u please care to elaborate on TD :-) Around here all i know is TG:-) May be then i shall be able to tell something

  3. I did a quick check on my stats. It seems that for me over 70% of the traffic is from India. So, guess my blog is reaching the intended audience:-) But yes, if you have a neutral content , it doesn matter. The content appeals to all and they visit, thats super cool:-)

  4. TD is what has become the legacy, in other words, Tata Docomo. Guess, I made a bit confusing. :)

For me, Christmas (Blog Post) Season did the trick and turned the traffic on its head. :P

  5. Oh Ok..LOL.. My bad, i am not that good with abbreviations.

Ya, see we all get something going for us!! For u it turned out to be the Christmas post, and since it is a more international topic, it is imperative that u got a lot of international traffic.
Its all bout acting on what we have going for us.I am only learning this small things, i just love to exaggerate a little:-)
but ya, dont overdo on the Christmas post :-) You might as well wait another year to use similar keywords:-) Jus kidding.I am sure you will find something relevant!! Best of Luck

  6. :P LOL. Yeah! then will try and bring up something for New Year - complete audience show. :D Good luck to you too :)

"Seasons come and go - we are here to stay for some more time"

    Good night dude :)

  7. Lol.Interesting one.See, its all part of the plan.I am gonna get the TataDocmo guys in trouble. They will have to fire their SEO or plead me to stop using the word:-)
And then we will ask them exhorbiant amount of money :-)

BTW TG, i was wondering if i should change the theme.I wrote on ur wire too. There is one theme i like but i am a little skeptical with the ad part:-(

  8. TG, i think i have almost frozen the theme :-) The theme is vast and customizable but i think i have things pretty much in place.

I have two text codes in the left sidebar and one in the right sidebar.I did add the ad code but i guess there is some issue with that. So, please put the ads with Black color whenever u get time.Hope this theme makes the reader experience better :-)
